Terms and Conditions
The following document provides information about the terms and conditions to participate in one of the Viva Tanzania programs as a volunteer or an intern, hereinafter “participants”. Everyone above 18 years of age, who is mentally and physically able, is allowed to participate in our programs. A maximum age limit does not exist.

After the participants chose a project, their registration is considered binding upon filling in the registration form on our website. Within a maximum of three working days the registration will be confirmed by Viva Tanzania. Right after the confirmation the registration fee has to be paid. After the payment is received, we will provide the participant with our handbooks filled with information. No later than six weeks before arrival the program fee, depending on the program duration, must
be paid.

The registration fee is 200 €.
The program fee is 100 € per week in a dorm.
If accommodation in a single room is desired the charge is 150 € per week.

Changes in prices
Viva Tanzania has no influence on price changes by third parties; these have to be paid by the participants, after proof provided by Viva Tanzania. Viva Tanzania reserves the right to raise prices and fees in cases such as: Increased food prices or utilities. This may only be subject to prior notice and will not be applied retroactively to already booked services.

In case you decide not to participate in the program after the confirmation has been made, the registration fee is not refundable. The program fee is refundable up to three months in advance by a 50%, up to six weeks in advance 25%, less than six weeks prior to departure there is no refund of program fees. If already in Tanzania and you interrupt your stay prematurely, there is no entitlement to reimbursement of costs already paid.

Cancellation by Viva Tanzania
Viva Tanzania reserves the right to dismiss participants who do not follow the rules set by Viva Tanzania and/or the Tanzanian laws. In this case there is no entitlement to reimbursement of costs already paid.

Project intermediation
The project placement will be arranged taking into consideration the wishes and ideas of the participants as well as ability and demand of volunteers/interns. Nevertheless it must be considered that a sometimes the projects may receive volunteers and interns by themselves and/or other organizations. Therefore, in exceptional cases it can happen that the desired project is not available. In this case Viva Tanzania will propose an appropriate and equivalent replacement project.

A project change is only permitted if justified, upon agreement with Viva Tanzania. Nevertheless the participants will have the opportunity, if discussed in advance, to participate in more than one project. For each additional project an additional registration fee of € 100 will be charged.

Office hours and reachability
The volunteer house is located on the same compound as our Nyumbani Hostel. Miriam, our Volunteer Coordinator, will be there from 8am until 8pm and will have dinner with all the volunteers daily. In case of any questions and worries she will be your contact person at the volunteer house. In case Miriam is not around, you can still contact her on her phone. Moreover Tini and Tizia, the owners of Viva Tanzania, live nearby and will be there to help and assist.

Security & Disclaimer
The district Mianzini where the hostel is located is a local, but safe area. We are protected by a more than two meters high wall, a nightguard and our dogs. We offer safes for storing your valuable belongings. Nevertheless Viva Tanzania assumes no liability for any lost or stolen items from the hostel.

Accommodation and board
Our participants are accommodated at our hostel in shared rooms, with a maximum of four people. We try to seperate the rooms by gender, but cannot guarantee this. If accommodation in a single room (surcharge) is desired, please let us know in the registration form.

The board in the hostel consists of breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be provided in almost all
projects. Breakfast includes tea and coffee, bread, margarine, honey, peanut butter, jam and
sometimes fruits and vegetables. Dinner are mostly typical Tanzanian dishes, nevertheless we also
cook international food from time to time.

We expect the participants to observe the conditions laid down by Viva Tanzania. This includes to keep the hostel clean & tidy, sometimes to help with the cooking, tablecloths and washing dishes. Bedclothes are provided and can be changed when needed, you need to bring your own towels or you can borrow them for a fee of 15 € for the entire stay.

Criminal record certificate
To participate in our program, it is essential to send us a copy of a current criminal record certificate. This one gets issued for a small fee at your local citizen centre. The copy of the testimony must be received prior to the project at Viva Tanzania, otherwise it is impossible to work in the desired project.
