Office hours and reachability
We don’t have real office hours but we are available 24/7. One of our staff members will always be in the volunteer house. Tini picks you up from the airport, you get to know each other and can ask you first questions. Depending on your time of arrival the same or the next day you will meet Tizia as well as Philbert, our guide, Swahili teacher and volunteer coordinator. On the cork board we have all number for emergency. Regularly we will have dinner together, go out, do activities and check on the house and the volunteers. In case of anything we are reachable 24/7, as we only live 10 walking minutes from the volunteer house.
Security and disclaimer
The district Ilboru where the volunteer house is located is a local, but safe area with many expatiates in the neighbourhood. We are protected by a more than two meters high wall and our three dogs. Nevertheless Viva Tanzania assumes no liability for any lost or stolen items from the hostel.
Accommodation and board
Our participants are accommodated in the volunteer house in shared rooms, with a maximum of four people. We try to separate the rooms by gender, but cannot guarantee this. If accommodation in a single room (surcharge) is desired, please let us know in the registration form.
The board in the house consists of breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be provided in almost all projects. Breakfast consists tea and coffee, bread, margarine, honey, peanut butter, jam and sometimes fruits and vegetables. Dinner is mostly typical Tanzanian dishes, nevertheless we also cook international food from time to time.
We expect the participants to observe the conditions laid down by Viva Tanzania. This includes to keep the house clean and tidy, help with the cooking, tablecloths and washing dishes. Bedclothes are provided and can be changed when needed, you need to bring your own towels or you can borrow one for a fee of 15 € for your entire stay.
