Hisia Nzuri Nursery School
The Project (planned start of construction July 2020)
The Hisia Nzuri Nursery School project is just about to begin. We have a vision, a piece of land in Siwandeti, a suburb of Arusha, and blueprints to build a preschool. Indigenous and marginalized Maasai families live in this area.
There are no state or free preschools in Tanzania that make it easier for children to start primary school. For us, the founders of Viva Tanzania, it is very important that the children from our community have access to good quality education, are given the freedom to develop their personality and social skills, and are given a chance for a better future. We want to enable all of this with our Hisia Nzuri Nursery School. The preschool should grow in cooperation with the community, our NGO and your help. We are convinced that our preschool will be particularly successful if we integrate the whole village, both in the construction phase and later in the daily routine. The aim is to found a preschool that works well because the parents recognize the value for their children and support the project with all their means and possibilities.
The Hisia Nzuri Nursery School will have three classrooms and can accommodate 50 to 60 children. There also plan an office, a kitchen, a store and sanitary facilities as well as a playground and a vegetable garden.
To implement this project, we need volunteers with different skills and interests:
1. Active construction workers who support our specialists to build the preschool. The planned start of construction is July 2020.
2. Help with designing the concept: We have not yet decided which concept we will use. Here you can contribute your knowledge and ideas. It would be best if you have a lot of experience with different teaching concepts, study pedagogy or to have completed your studies.
3. Help with the acquisition of donations: As always, a project of this size requires financial resources both for the construction as well as for the maintenance and continuation. Therefore we are looking for people who support us in fundraising, the search for new sponsors and keeping the current supporters up to date e.g. through newsletters.
Currently we are collecting donations to start building the pre-school on the land shown above from July 2020 onwards.
