Why Volunteering in Education in Tanzania Matters

Access to quality education is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty. Many schools in Tanzania face challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, limited resources, and a shortage of trained teachers. Volunteers like you help bridge this gap, providing opportunities for students to thrive. Volunteers have helped improve literacy rates, provided personalized attention to students, and supported schools with limited resources. Together, we’re creating brighter futures for Tanzanian youth.

“I was in the Arusha modern school for a volunteer trip. It’s was a very very good experience I recommend it! I thank the Viva Tanzania organization and all the staff for their kindness towards the volunteers, I will come back soon.”

“We volunteered through Viva Tanzania for three months and can now look back on a wonderful time and exciting experiences. Viva Tanzania is a small organization, but we think that is one of it’s strengths rather than a weakness. Communication, problem solving and taking care of the volunteers takes place on a very personal level with Tizia directly, which makes a lot of things easier and less complicated than it might be with bigger organizations. You see the faces behind Viva Tanzania almost everyday and they always have an open ear for your problems and even recommendations. This creates a welcoming, familiar atmosphere. Additionally, all the formalities of volunteering are taken of and all complications, that living in Tanzania might cause, are handled professionally. Working in our projects was also very rewarding and fun. The teachers there are motivated, well trained and are eager to further their knowledge of modern teaching methods. Being a future teacher in Germany myself, I learned a lot in my time there and gained invaluable experience while teaching English and History.”
