The Project
Perfect Vision is a women’s empowerment organisation based in Arusha, Tanzania. The organisation was founded in 2019 by an inspiring woman called Mama Happy who was also living with HIV and started the women’s community group, which is now Perfect Vision. The organisation believes that our living conditions should not define who we are as human beings. HIV infection, teenage pregnancy or a difficult background should not keep girls and women from reaching their goals and dreams. And a monthly menstrual period should not keep children out of school. They also offer various courses to help them become economically independent, such as sewing, baking, bleaching and making paper bags, liquid soaps and jewellery. P.V.W.T. believe that they can’t run this initiative and be successful without help from all over the world: their own community, local and international volunteers, and support from the Tanzanian government.
From the mothers in their organisation to the girls out of school on their periods, no one is left behind. This is the power of Perfect Vision. Its influence reaches far beyond the twenty women of the Perfect Vision organisation, it reaches the community. The fight for women’s equality has a long way to go. Their sanitary pads are just one step on a larger journey towards women’s empowerment and a community that supports each other. This is our vision for Tanzanian society – a Perfect Vision.
